* Do not act aggressively or arrogantly. If there’s one way to irritate an officer quickly, it’s probably by acting in an angry or threatening manner.
* Don’t automatically deny breaking the law. If you know you’ve broken the law, be honest and acknowledge what you’ve done.
* Do not yell at the officer, use inappropriate language or insult them. Be polite and respectful.
* Do not talk over the officer. It’s rude and disrespectful. Let them talk first. If you have questions then ask once they’re done with their discussion.
* Do not reach for anything abruptly once you see the lights of the officer’s car behind you. Wait until they approach your vehicle to search for the requested documentation like your license and proof of insurance.
* Never, ever try to buy off a cop. It could lead to your arrest very quickly.
* Do not ever run from an officer. If you fear the car attempting to pull you over is not an actual officer of the law, call 911 and let them know you’re proceeding to the next well light parking lot once they’ve confirmed the officer is legitimate.
